plain building

September 13, 2011

i never blogged this but a couple weeks ago i broke my elbow. its finally getting better and now i can start using it again, which also means taking photos again. I’ve been thinking of things i can shoot as a series and today after walking around the city for a bit i think i might do something related to plain looking buildings. melbourne has a lot of crazy architecture which everyone likes to take photos of, so why not take photos of the plain buildings.

waranga basin

August 19, 2011

99% of the year waranga basin is a giant brown puddle. the water is normally a murky brown riddled with bugs and algae. 2 weeks ago i was back in the goulburn valley and anna and i were driving past and noticed it didnt look like shit. the sun was setting and there was a storm approaching. it was pretty much a cliche scene. so we stopped and hung around for a bit and i got some snaps. for the first time i can remember the water was actually clear enough to see through.

HSV W427

July 19, 2011

here are two of the final images from the photos i took of the w427. for anyone interested both images were shot with light from one single fluro tube, while it was raining. i am more than pleased with the outcome.

snow

July 15, 2011

its been a long time since my last post. i havnt been able to use my computer, or access to anything decent enough to support the huge files my camera outputs, as well as edit anything so that explains that.
recently anna and myself headed up mt buffalo since there isnt an entry fee to national parks anymore. i was hoping to see some snow but we we got was pretty much blizzard conditions. strong wind with snow flying everywhere. lucky my camera is equipped for the conditions and i was able to use it.

herald sun

June 3, 2011

an article was posted in the herald sun on monday may 30th. a picture of mine was used in the article. why was i at a protest you might ask? well i live next door to the maribyrnong detention centre which is where people were protesting refugee rights or something. i thought i’d hang around with my camera because there were a lot of police around and lots of yelling people and normally that leads to something happening. sure enough it did and i was in the right place at the right time.

herald sun web article

i have my own copy of the paper from that day as my souvenir. and for anyone wondering, no i did not get paid for the photo. newspapers just dont go handing out cheques willy nilly to people who send in photos.

sick update

May 27, 2011

its friday, its cold outside, and im at home sick with the heater on full. its probably about 35 degrees in my room at the moment but i’m still feeling the cold.
so today i thought i would sit around and get some homework done.
this perfume bottle is for an assignment where we have to shoot a reflective object in the studio. thanks to liane for letting me borrow her perfume.

here we have a spanner. this was shot for an assignment where each of us we given specific random photos to produce. i got told to shoot a single spanner for use on a do it yourself fix it book. so given the resources i had, this it what i came up with.

in this last one we were each given a photo of some sort fruit/vege/food and we had to replicate the image. mine was an ad for heinz ketchup with a photo of tomatoes.
